Really, I wish pedal companies would stop putting the 9V jack anywhere near any other jacks on the pedals. My regular Planet Waves cables are high-profile and so the right-angle connector clears the power jack, but this design also sticks out too far and takes up unnecessary pedalboard space. This causes any right-angled connector to hit the power connection and put stress on it. I would have to post a picture to explain what I'm talking about, but basically L-shaped cable ends cause cabling problems for me.Īnother issue with right-angled connectors is with pedals like MXR where the 9V jack is (stupidly) placed REALLY close to the input or output jack. I think these Lava cables will solve problems like that, because it removes the entire bottom "right-angle" part of the connector from the equation. With my Strymon Timeline, for example, a right-angled connector plugged into the input and going to the output of a pedal next to the Strymon is awkward to route to that pedal because the connector sticks out too far. This type of connector doesn't work well with pedals that have input/output jacks on the top. My main issue with the cables I currently have is really the right-angled connector. Thanks, but I ended up ordering a Lava Tightrope cable kit. What are some good inexpensive patch cables with connectors that don't stick out too far or get in the way of things like power connectors? I don't mind kits but they need to be solderless.ĮBS' flat patch cables are all the rage and for good reason, very thin/flexible and with perhaps the lowest-profile connectors available. I don't like cables that have these giant right-angled connectors. Planet Waves cable kit-Making cables isn't hard but the screws are terrible since they are flathead style and the screwdriver slips easily, and once again the cable ends are too large. Planet Waves (regular)-More flexible than the Hosas, and the ends of the cables stick out so they can sit over the power connectors, but this is also bad because they stick out too far.ģ. Hosa-not flexible enough because of the white sleeve near the connectorĢ. family of brands, the global leader in musical accessories.2Plus2isChicken wrote:I'm at the point where I'm ready to replace all the patch cables on my pedalboard.
